It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Edith McGeough.
Edith was born in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan, the seventh child of nine born to Eli and Mae DeCorby. Edith attended elementary school at the Welby Country School and high school at the "Sister's de la Presentation" boarding school in St.Lazare, MB. After high school, Edith attended Teachers College in Winnipeg. She obtained a teacher's certificate and taught in several communities before accepting a position in Govan.
In 1956, she was introduced to John McGeough by mutual friends. They dated and were married in October 1957. Their first years were busy establishing a farm business, as well as the arrival of Joseph, David and Patrick. In 1966 they purchased a home in Govan and added Peter and Margo to the family.
Edith was a person of strong convictions and personal action. She taught Catechism, served on the Govan School Board, and participated in the CWL and the Govan Figure Skating Club. Later on, Edith fostered children for social services and volunteered at the Blue Mantle Mission and BirthRight.
Edith is predeceased by her husband, John, son David and daughter-in-law, Lin. She is survived by daughter Margo, sons Peter, Patrick and Joe and their families, including seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church, Regina, on Dec 9 at 11:00 a.m. Prayers on Dec 8 at 5:00 p.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a children's charity of your choice.
