Obituary - McRae: Shirley Jane
February 23, 1946 - November 2, 2024
Shirley McRae (Petrick) born February 23rd, 1946 in Watrous, Saskatchewan. Daughter of Violet and Walter Petrick, loving wife of Vernon (Red) McRae, mother to Bradley (Jill) McRae, Trent (Casandra) McRae, grandmother to Jordan (Melissa) McRae, and Sydney McRae.
Following her informative years growing up in Watrous, Shirley married Red on April 6th, 1968 in Simpson, Saskatchewan where they resided until moving to Watrous where they started a family. They lived in Watrous until 1977 when they moved to Meath Park, Saskatchewan until Red’s retirement in 1996 where they relocated back to their true home in Simpson. Following Red’s passing in 1999 Shirley moved back to Watrous where she lived for several years before finding companionship with a new life partner in Vince Henry. Shirley and Vince resided in Simpson until Vince’s passing in 2018. Shirley lived her remaining years first at the Jubilee Court in Watrous surrounded by close friends, and finally the last 3 years at Manitou Lodge.
It was the joy in raising her sons, followed by time watching her grandchildren becoming young adults that were her most cherished moments and memories. Shirley was loved by all, a kind and loving mother, wife and friend who will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
Shirley passed away on Saturday November 2nd while in the care of the amazing staff at the Manitou Lodge in Watrous.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Watrous United Church on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with lunch and fellowship to follow at the Watrous United Church basement.
