Remembering local schools
Two custom-made signs were recently erected to commemorate the locations where local education once took place

- Silton School, active 1914 - 1969
- Longlaketon School, active 1890 - 1953
- Paid for by donations from community members
- Installed by volunteers
The Longlaketon School (#112) served the public at two different locations and was one of the earliest schools in the district. The Silton School (#1038) was constructed following the establishment of the village and, at one time, served grades 1-12 from four classrooms for village children and country high school age students.
