This investment aims to improve the efficiency of goods transportation in rural areas, supporting farmers, ranchers, and local businesses.
Highways Minister David Marit emphasized the importance of integrating rural roads with the provincial highway network to facilitate the export of goods and resources. He noted that rural municipal roads play a crucial role in Saskatchewan's export-based economy.

SARM President Bill Huber highlighted the need for reliable transportation infrastructure in rural areas to stabilize and strengthen the economy. He expressed appreciation for the funding assistance provided to rural municipalities through the RIRG program.

Rural municipalities are responsible for managing their projects and funding the remaining costs. A Program Management Board, comprising representatives from SARM and the Ministry of Highways, oversees the program.
