Host Drummers were the Buffalocalf Singers from the Nekaneet Cree First Nation. Powwow MC, Sanford Strongarm, said the event was designed to bring first nations tradition and culture to tourists at the popular summer destination spot. “It’s all a part of the reconciliation. Plus, we are doing a lot of healing within our communities as well. The pandemic has taken a lot of our ceremonial dancing and singing over the past 8 months so it’s nice to come
back, sit and sing and dance with all of our relatives that we have. Healing the communities, healing the people and of course remembering the ones we have lost through COVID plus it’s remembering the people that went through

residential schools and also the missing and murdered indigenous women. It brings that all in play for us as we go forward with this celebration.”
