When the Guild met in the fall of 2019, they chose to make small quilts for the Mending Little Hearts Fund of Saskatchewan. A pediatric cardiology team for children born with heart problems. We also strive to have Comfort Quilts on hand to give to anyone suffering from an illness, a bereavement or an accident, etc. With this in mind, we want you all to know that while the pandemic has shut down our workshops, meetings and retreats, it has not stopped our sewing machines.
We have not met since February of 2020, but the rough count I have of happenings in the last 15 months is; we have given out at least 7 Comfort Quilts, and Elaine and Carolyn Bartel took 30 quilts and seven receiving blankets to the Mending Little Hearts team in Saskatoon. We have at least eight quilts on hand and another 18 that are being made at this time.
We are very sad to report that one of our very talented and prolific members has moved away. Judy MacKinnon from Lanigan has moved to Steinbach, Manitoba, to be closer to her family. We will miss you, Judy, and wish you the best of luck.
That is what has been happening in our quilting world. Stay safe, stay well.
