Bull’s Head is located in Bulyea and has been in operation for over a year now. Owners Cam and Liz Brass were drawn to the community by available land, which they are seeking to develop senior housing on. Liz is a clinical psychologist and, along with Cam, realized there will be an increased need for affordable seniors housing and want to help in filling that need. They were in Bulyea, checking out available lots across from the old Bulyea Hotel, which has been closed for 6 years. Cam inquired about the building, and it turned out that the owner (Cathy Currey) was standing right next to him. She had the keys on her, so they went to have a peek. After looking, Cam and Liz saw that the property would need a fair amount done to revive it. Well, Cam, having expertise in construction, saw challenges and opportunities where others might see work and expense. They also saw Bulyea as a growing community and centre for the area, so locating a business here made sense. They committed to bringing the building back to life, and it is now open 5 days a week. Their hours are Wed.–Thurs.–Sun. (12 – 4pm), Fri. and Sat. (12 – 2am), Friday’s are ½ priced wings night while Saturday’s feature is steak.
Cam and Liz also enjoy viewing art, so when the Last Mountain Artists’ Collective approached them about showing at the Bull’s Head, they agreed and freed-up space to do just that. Cam says,” Not only is local art better than beer posters, it captures the essence of the locale.” The artists of the area appreciate your views and welcome you to the community. Entrepreneurs such as you will keep us growing and prospering.
