They decided to try something new this fall to raise some much-needed funds. They did a Take-Out Steak supper from the hall on Saturday, November 28. They were not sure how it would go over, being people were used to supporting the Elks, but getting a nice supper and evening out for it. The Elks sold out, cooking 230 steaks! Two of which were donated to health care workers in Raymore by an out of town purchaser. The support was amazing.
The Steak supper was 100% take-out, and all who entered the hall wore masks, maintained social distancing, as did the volunteers who prepared/packaged the steak, baked potatoes, mushrooms, onions and caesar salad. We had many extra financial donations from people who purchased steaks, but also the Last Mountain Coop donated the mushrooms and lettuce for the Supper and the propane for the barbecues. Then we had an anonymous donor who then came and paid for all the steaks for the Supper! Awesome support.
When South Country Equipment Raymore heard of this fundraiser, many of the staff purchased tickets. Then we heard from Reuben Schmidt - SCE Service Manager who had great news, the Raymore staff had offered to make a donation to the Raymore Elks Club. They came with a $2,700 cheque that afternoon.
The Elks are proud to serve in a community like Raymore when so many people contributed to this worthwhile cause!
