
After his sudden passing, in November of 2019, his funeral service was set for early 2020. However, after coordinating with extended family, interment was rescheduled for summer 2020.
COVID again delayed the ceremony. Finally, and with respect to social distancing limits, the family held the event at the Battleford cemetery in the early afternoon. But not without a hitch.
Upon arrival, Dave’s family was unable to locate the designated plot. In all of the cremains section, there wasn’t a fresh hole anywhere in sight. After some distress, a few phone calls were made, and it was determined that wires had been crossed at the town office. They sent a worker out right away, and while the family celebrated Dave’s life at the local legion hall, the worker remedied the oversight.
While some might see this hiccup as a minor tragedy on a very important day, family members agreed that David would have thought this was all a very humorous situation.
Dave was a great Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Grandfather, and newspaper editor, and likely would have made a few improvements to this very article.
