After a covid concern hiatus, the East Shore Wildlife Federation spring fundraising banquet returned to the Strasbourg hall on April 1, 2023. The 180 presold tickets ensured a full house, and all enjoyed an excellent roast beef supper catered by Karen and Jay Wilker of D's Place.
The antler and head display showed some very impressive local wildlife examples. East Shore member Brianna Yung spoke of her enjoyable time at the girl's youth conservation camp last summer at Candle Lake.
The guest speaker was Darren Newberry from SWF head office in MooseJaw, in charge of habitat trust land acquisitions. He spoke of his time growing up in rural Saskatchewan and enjoying nature and hunting.
Awards were given out for the years 2019 thru 2022. President Jason Bleau spoke about East Shore, activities, and SWF annual convention and the recognition that this club has contributed over $80,000 to the habitat trust land purchase program.
The well-stocked silent auction tables, kids, ladies and two other full tables ensured a plentiful supply of raffle items. Due to the immense support from contributors and attendees, a net profit of just over $14,000 was raised. Funds will be spent on contributions to habitat land trust, SWF programs and local club needs. It was great to all get together again.
