That is the mission statement you will read when you visit the Bethune Splash Pad down at McLean Park. On Friday, September 17th, the community gathered to celebrate their Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for their newly completed Splash Pad! This event included free hotdogs, beverages and beautiful cakes, all locally donated! Many guests were in attendance, including Arm River MLA Dana Skoropad, Bethune Mayor Chris Lloyd, K+S Potash representative Sydney Gossard and Bethune Sports Gala President Stacey Riddell.
This was an extra special night for one particular Splash Pad committee member, Debbie Wisniewski. Debbie was awarded a Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award for the time she dedicates to maintaining the park. And to top it all off, the evening ended with a big bang as there was a spectacular fireworks show in memory of Dale Ulmer (brother of Debbie Wisniewski), who suddenly passed away earlier this spring. Like that of his sister, Dale was very involved in his community and held a special place in his heart for McLean Park.
The Bethune Splash Pad is a place where people young and old can gather and enjoy! It has been two years in the making. Year one began with the construction and installation of the Splash Pad, a gazebo, sponsorship recognition walls, and landscaping. Year two completed the project with a bathroom and change room facility. To finally have this project wrapped up is definitely a reason worth celebrating! Congratulations to all committee members, volunteers and sponsors involved in this extraordinary project! What a beautiful addition to your community!
