Due to the extremely dry, hot and windy conditions, the fire spread quickly. We left the scene at 8 pm after a long battle to extinguish the fire that destroyed not only stubble and seeded fields but a family farm.
The heart of our community shines through the men and women of the Semans and District Fire and Rescue volunteers who responded to our request for back-up and to the amazing farmers and public who didn’t hesitate to rush over with equipment, water and human resources. Without this extra help, the outcome of this fire could have been more devastating.
