Humboldt, SK – Horizon School Division is pleased to announce the Government of Saskatchewan has approved the Lanigan, Sask. consolidated school project for construction. Quorex Construction Services Ltd. has been awarded the contract within a Construction Manager at Risk agreement.
“We are pleased to take a step forward in providing the community of Lanigan and surrounding areas with a progressive, modern school facility,” said Mark Fedak, Trustee for Subdivision 4.
Together, Horizon and the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement have worked to find more than $2.47 million in savings, while maintaining quality of instructional space. Horizon’s Board of Education has been approved to contribute up to $500,000 from reserves, adding to Ministry funding for the project. The project team continues to work with SaskBuilds and Procurement with the intention of construction beginning in the coming months.
“This project is very exciting for the children of Lanigan and area, and for Horizon School Division. The new facility will benefit students for years to come, and we are grateful to be in a position to further this project,” said Kevin C. Garinger, Director of Education.
Originally announced in July 2020, the new K-12 school will be built near the existing Lanigan Central High and Lanigan Elementary schools for a projected 400 students.
