Carol Lynn Bart
March 1959 – May 2023
Carol Lynn Bart was born in Nokomis, SK to Albert and Lucy Bart on March 24, 1959. She grew up on the family farm outside of Nokomis and was the youngest of 3 children.
After graduating from Nokomis School she moved to Saskatoon and attended Robertson Secretarial School training as a legal secretary. Her work life began with a downtown law firm, after which she took a position at Saskatchewan Land Titles. During her tenure there she took a leave of absence and joined Carnival Cruise Line, based out of Florida, as a casino dealer. Although this was a brief experience, she made lifelong friends with some of the people she encountered on the ship. She then returned to her position at Land Titles before moving across to the Provincial Courthouse as a court clerk. Here she made many friends and brought her humor into the office. She retired in 2015 after 35 years of service as a provincial employee.
Carol was an avid reader, and enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including puzzles, crossword, attending live theatre, watching a wide variety of sports-most notably golf, curling and baseball. She played many sports throughout her life, including curling, golf, soccer, and most recently pickleball. She also enjoyed going for walks and working out at home, taking art classes and doing crafty projects, and gardening.
Carol was an avid gardener. She loved trying new plants and techniques in her garden and sharing tips with family and friends. Her yard was immaculate and she enjoyed spending time in her backyard enjoying the summer sun. A couple of years ago she befriended a wild rabbit who had been frequenting her yard. She lovingly named him Jack, started leaving water out for him, and fed him like a king.
Carol was bitten by the travel bug. Throughout her working career she traveled to Mexico with her sister Laurie, Hawaii with her Mom and friend Delores, Florida with both her Mom and Dad, and the Caribbean and Las Vegas with friends. Upon her retirement, Carol “Got Busy Living” and became a frequent traveler with Sun Seekers World Travel creating new friendships and planning subsequent trips with the people she met and traveled often and to many different places across the globe, including China, France, Africa, Italy, Central Europe, Dubai and Ireland. While in Poland she visited her grandfather’s hometown. Miami in 2018 for a reunion with her Cruise Ship mates. London in 2019 to visit friends and tour the area. She traveled with her nephew, Cory to Boston to watch the Red Sox vs her New York Yankees and enjoy the rich history of the city. Another trip took her and her niece, Lisa to New York, again for a baseball game and to enjoy a few Broadway shows.
Family meant the world to her. She would frequently come back home to Nokomis for family gatherings or host everyone in her home, and enjoyed playing cards and games, especially 31. Carol was fiercely independent and determined to continuously create her best life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit.
Carol passed away suddenly at home on May 1, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents Lucy and Albert, and sister Laurie Bart. She is survived by her brother Brian (Rita) Bart, nieces and nephew Haley (Jeremy) Brauner, Lisa Bart, and Cory Bart; great nieces and nephews Ella Bart, Benjamin, Lucy, and Daniel Brauner; brother-in-law James Ness (Joanne); and many friends and extended family.
Forever loved and dearly missed.
