The first barrel racing jackpot of the summer series for Last Mountain Barrel Racing (Strasbourg) was held Monday of the Victoria Day long weekend. The event took place at the Last Mountain Rodeo Arena east of the Town of Strasbourg on Highway 731.

The first barrel racing jackpot of the summer series for Last Mountain Barrel Racing (Strasbourg) was held Monday of the Victoria Day long weekend. The event took place at the Last Mountain Rodeo Arena east of the Town of Strasbourg on Highway 731.

The group had a fantastic turnout with PeeWee, Youth and Open categories entries.

Sandy Stewart had the winning time in the open category of 17.79 seconds; Tye Tallentire won the youth category with 17.73 seconds.

These jackpot races continue until August 7.  Members are given the choice, that for a fee, along with competing in 6 of the 11 jackpots they can accumulate their points to qualify for year end prizes, which include some amazing buckles,  or just simply compete in the jackpots for prize money.

Administrator Kelly Walker added that Last Mountain Barrel Racing is affiliated with Saskatchewan Barrel Racing Association, and they sanction all the jackpots; therefore, all contestants must have a current SBRA membership and follow their rules.
