On Friday March 24, the Lumsden Bethune Minor Hockey Association held game 1 of the provincial finals for the under 15 boys in the Lumsden Sports Center.
The Lions came away with a loss of 6-1 against the Meadow Lake Stampeders. They met again on March 31 in Meadow Lake with the Lions winning the second game 5-2, tying up the series, forcing a game 3 mini-game which went into overtime, eventually won by the Stampeders 2-1, bringing an end to the provincials.
The Under 15 Lions competed in both the Provincial and League Final games, an accomplishment that has been 20 years in the making.
The league results were:
- March 26 Regina Tigers 6, Lumsden Lions 3
- March 28 Lions 3, Tigers 2 and;
- the final league game March 30 Tigers 6, Lions 3.
This series finalized the LBMHA season for this year.
The boys had a great hockey season and worked hard to the very end. Parents, coaches and the communities are very proud of them.
