Youth curlers year-end windup party on March 3.
Regular mixed league curling began the week of November 1st with four teams on Monday night, nine teams Tuesday nights, and four teams Thursday afternoon. They held youth curling Thursday after school, with an average of 20 excited students from Grade 3 & up attending the learn-to-curl program each week! They held a windup party on March 3rd with food sponsored by Duval Optimists.
Eight teams played in the Grey Cup FunSpiel on December 11th. Four teams entered the annual Boxing Day FunSpiel, and six teams played off in the Senior’s Bonspiel on January 18 & 19.
They held the Annual Bonspiel from February 17th to 19th, with eight teams entered. During the first three games, points were earned for wins and the number of ends scored. Teams then played off for bragging rights in each event. There were many wonderful prizes donated by local and surrounding area businesses.
Sixteen curlers threw their last rocks of the season at the Late Night FunSpiel on Friday, March 18th. Ken Hogbin was the winner of the raffle that evening for a wine cooler raffle.
First-place winners for each of the four events were:
1st Event - David Craswell’s team, 2nd Event - Darryl Kerr’s team, 3rd Event - Larry Doetzel’s team and 4th Event - Keith Flavel’s team
