Public Notice

Public Notice

Bylaw to Repeal Designation as Municipal Heritage Property Section 17(2), The Heritage Property Act, R.S.S. 1978, c.H-2.2, as amended

Notice is hereby given that not less than thirty days from the date of service of this notice, the Council of the Town of Lumsden intends to pass a bylaw pursuant to the provisions of The Heritage Property Act, to repeal the Municipal Heritage Property designation of the following real property located at 165 Elgin Crescent and legally described as Block 12 and 13, Plan C1510 in Lumsden.

The property was originally designated as a Municipal Heritage Property by Bylaw 3-2005 and passed on the 19th day of May, 2005

The reasons for the proposed repeal are as follows:

  1. To rectify changes which were made to the house which detract from the original design and some of the elements listed in the original heritage designation have since been removed from the property.
  2. The wraparound verandah has significant structural issues which need to be addressed. The current owners plan to replace the verandah while paying homage to the Queen Ann Revival Style.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed repeal must serve council with a written objection stating the reasons for the objection and all relevant facts not less than three days prior to consideration of the repealing bylaw.

Dated this 11th day of April, 2025
