What is the Point of Religion?
I grew up in a country where most people would have called themselves religious.

Key Points from This Story:
- Friends were religious but hypocritical
- Canada was more welcoming and honest
- Religion alone seen as empty
- Jesus' mission was to save the lost
- Modern distractions numb true emotions
- Jesus offers a way to true life
Most of my friends practiced the sacraments, went to confession, attended mass, and said the Lord's Prayer. At the same time, they were dishonest, sexist, racist, and didn't have a strong sense of right and wrong.
When my family moved to Canada, we found people who, for the most part, were welcoming, kind, and honest, and didn't practice religion like my friends growing up. In my mind, this didn't make sense. I have read that Canada has left Christianity. Generally speaking, this seems true.
So if one strongly religious country creates dishonesty and corruption in young people and most levels of leadership, and Canada, being largely secular, has created generally nice people: what is the point of religion?
